Thank You and Sources

We want to thank our relatives, the friendly staff of the Ev. Luth. Church Records Offices in Göttingen and Northeim, the parish offices and the civil registrars for their co-operative help.

A good source for more history - and stories - on Grone are books by the former teacher and vice school principal of Grone, August Kage (published by himself) and the publications of the Local History Society of Grone (Heimatverein Grone).

More information about weaving in Southern Lower Saxony can be gathered from a contribution: "Das Schiffchen fliegt, der Webstuhl kracht  (The shuttle flies, the loom creaks)" by Dr. Gerd Busse in "Altes Handwerk und Gewerbe in Süd-Niedersachsen (Old crafts and trade in Southern Lower Saxony)", published by Birgit Schlegel, Mecke Druck und Verlag, Duderstadt 1998". I am also grateful to Dr. Busse for the old photo of the church and the many details on the history on Esebeck.

I am grateful to Mr. Heere, City Historian of Hardegsen, who made available to me the photo of the church steeple, the post card, and the contribution of the teacher Spintig about Ellierode in "Heimatbuch des Kreises Northeim" (Regional Book about the District of Northeim) of 1920.  Pastor Lönneker made available data on the history of the church and allowed me to research the early days of the Hillebrecht family in Ellierode.
